KB0116: Why do font and style controls go crazy on Mac OS X?

Mac OS X suffers from a problem whereby sometimes font files get corrupted, and this causes Jutoh to read corrupt font size information. This causes display glitches in the Formatting Palette and editor, making it difficult to select styles and fonts or edit content. Or, Jutoh can crash when rendering text, for example when editing a style since this renders all the available fonts in a font list box.

To resolve this, there are various steps to be taken.

First, you can use Font Book (in the Applications folder) to select and verify fonts.

Next, you can clean the font cache and delete redundant font files. There are some instructions on Adobe's site here. You may also need to delete font files in ~/Library/Fonts.

For information about where font files are stored, see this Apple technical note.

If the above doesn't help and Jutoh still crashes, try using the 64-bit version of Jutoh for Mac if you are currently using the 32-bit version. The link to the 64-bit version can be found on the Jutoh download page above the regular 32-bit download link.
