KB0230: Why is the author filled in with my user name in new projects?

When you create a new project using the New Project wizard or Quick Convert, the author name is filled from:

  1. The author metadata in the imported document, if it is specified.

  2. Or, if "Auto-fill metadata" is enabled in Advanced Preferences, the value of "Default author".

  3. Or, if "Auto-fill metadata" is enabled but "Default author" is left blank, the value of "User name" from General Preferences.

  4. Or, if "Auto-fill metadata" is enabled but the author is still unspecified, the value of the last-created project's author metadata.

So if you need the least amount of auto-fill, disable "Auto-fill metadata" and clear the "User name" field in Preferences/Advanced.

If you are using the New Project Wizard and wish to leave the author blank to be filled in by the imported document's metadata, type a space for the author.
