KB0307: Why are my images centred on some viewers, but not others?

If you find that most viewers centre your images, but one or two don't (such as the Firefox EPUBReader extension), check whether you have line breaks in the paragraph containing the image. Ensure the View | Text Highlighting menu option is checked, so line breaks are displayed as left-facing arrows.

Some viewers won't apply centring to all parts of a paragraph containing line breaks. In general it's good practice to avoid line breaks and use separate paragraphs whose alignment and spacing you can fully control. You can create a new paragraph style (for example "Decorative Image") and apply it to the paragraph containing the image.

If your image is in a heading with text before and after it, you will also need to distinguish between the two textual parts of the heading, for example using "Heading 1" and "Heading Subtitle". This way, building an advanced table of contents won't find two top-level headings for the same chapter.
