KB0309: Apple Books fails to size an image when the height is specified as a percentage

See also: What size should my images be?

Older versions of Apple Books (iBooks) do not respect a relative width or height for an image. A partial workaround (for a relative width only) is provided when Optimize for iBooks is checked (the default): for an image alone in a paragraph, the image is placed in a box, and the size of the image is transferred to the box. The workaround is based on this blog article.

Unfortunately, the workaround does not work for a relative image height or maximum height. So you will need to edit the image properties by clicking on it, and in the Size page, clear the height. Then set the width to a percentage of the display width. Or, specify an absolute (cm) value for the height.
