KB0331: Why does Apple Books fail to open my Epub with a missing resource error?

See also: Why are there only blank pages on Apple Books for iPad or iPhone?

In Apple Books (iBooks), when opening a book via iCloud or other methods, you may see this error:

Failed to load book because the requested resource is missing.

This is probably because it is trying to go back to the last point read from a previous version of the book, and this involves an HTML file that no longer exists in the current version.

Try deleting the original book from the Apple Books library, and then closing and starting Apple Books or rebooting the device.
