KB0353: Can I embed fonts in an OpenDocument (ODT) file?

Unfortunately the ODT file format does not allow for font embedding. So when opening a generated ODT file, you will need to have the relevant fonts installed in your operating system to see them. This is a known limitation and irritant of the OpenOffice/LibreOffice applications.

However, exporting to PDF does embed the fonts if they are installed on your operating system, so problems only arise if distributing ODT files that use unusual fonts. PDF files may be distributed without worrying about missing fonts.
