KB0382: Why do some headings have a number that I can't edit or remove?

See also: How do I add or remove automatic heading numbering?

After importing a DOCX or ODT file, Jutoh tries to guess whether automatic heading numbering is required, by checking whether paragraphs with heading styles (as defined in the document's outline style) have numbered list attributes. If so, Jutoh switches on automatic heading numbering, and you may see numbers next to headings.

If you don't want automatically numbered headings, follow these steps:

  1. Click Edit on the Jutoh toolbar to show the Project Properties dialog.

  2. Click Fields & Numbering.

  3. Clear the option Number headings automatically and click OK.

  4. Click on the Book menu, then Update.

  5. Check (tick) Fields and Numbering and click Update.

Numbering will be removed from headings.

If numbers are still shown in your OpenDocument (ODT) file:

  1. Click Edit on the Jutoh toolbar to show the Project Properties dialog.

  2. Click Fields & Numbering.

  3. Click Edit Document Outline Style.

  4. In Numbering style, select (none).

  5. Click OK, OK again and compile the ODT file again.
