KB0432: Why do page breaks not work on some Epub readers?

Some readers, such as Adobe Digital Editions 4 (Epub 3 only), Calibre, and AZARDI do not honour forced page breaks, although all Epub readers do interpret a new section as a page break.

Moon Reader doesn't take into account page breaks created using page-break-before - only if page-break-after is used. Since Jutoh 2.97, Epub files are created using page-break-after - this is also recommended by the iBooks asset guide to help with performance.

If you create Epub 2 files, then only a very small number of readers will fail to honour page breaks - possibly only Calibre and AZARDI.

If you absolutely need page breaks to work for all Epub readers, you can split your documents into sections where you have page breaks.
