Why is Kindle Previewer not showing my book with enhanced typesetting?

In 2015, Amazon introduced better rendering, an additional font (Bookerly), automatic hyphenation and improvements to font and spacing behaviour, under the banner of enhanced typesetting.

Enhanced typesetting is automatically enabled for your books in the Kindle store. You won't see enhanced typesetting with Kindle Previewer 2, but Kindle Previewer 3 has these features. At the time of writing (January 2018) you can download Kindle Previewer 3 from www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1003018611.

Jutoh now helps you download KP3 and configure Jutoh for it. You can also manually configure Jutoh as follows:

  1. Click on the Options tool in the toolbar, or use View | Preferences.

  2. Click on Helpers.

  3. In File types, choose Kindle files (mobi) and click Configure Viewers.

  4. Click Add and type Kindle Previewer 3.

  5. Click Browse and find the Kindle Previewer executable. On Windows, the path may be something like C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\Amazon\Kindle Previewer 3\Kindle Previewer 3.exe

  6. Click OK, and OK again.

Now when you click on Launch with the Kindle configuration selected, you will be offered a choice of Kindle viewers, including Kindle Previewer 3.
