If your cover size is too large, it can fail to be shown in an Epub viewer, and it can bulk out the size of the ebook file unnecessary. Here are two ways you can resize it.

1. Change the size in the compiled ebook only

Each configuration has a Cover image width option which resizes the image in the generated ebook (not the original cover). Edit your configuration(s) and set this option to, say, 800. When the book is next compiled, the cover will be 800 pixels wide (with the height adjusted appropriately).

If you only want the cover to be a different size for a particular retailer, you can add a new configuration for this retailer and adjust the cover image width.

To add a new configuration, click Edit next to the current configuration. Click the + button at the top of the configurations panel, type a new name, and check Base on existing configuration. Choose an existing configuration to copy from, e.g. "Epub".

Set Cover image width to the desired value. Now you only have to select that configuration and click Compile to generate an Epub for that retailer.

If you do this, you can get Jutoh to use a different .epub file name by changing the configuration option Book file name to e.g. %FILENAME%_MyRetailer instead of the default %FILENAME%. The file extension will be added automatically.

2. Permanently change the cover image size

Assuming your cover design is a bitmap you previously imported, you can use the Export to Image File button on the Covers page of Project Properties. Then choose a new image size and click Copy To Clipboard and then OK.

In the Covers page of Project Properties, click Create From Clipboard, and then click OK. This will copy the changed cover back to your project properties.

You can, of course, export the cover image to a bitmap file via Export to Image File and resize it in your favourite editing software, before using Create From Image File.
