KB0291: How do I copy and paste formatting from a Microsoft Word document?

If you try copying and pasting directly from a Microsoft Word document, you will find that Jutoh will not preserve formatting, footnotes, index entries and so on. Only text is pasted.

There are two workarounds for this:

  1. Run LibreOffice (a free download), and copy and paste the content from Word to LibreOffice. Then copy and paste the content from LibreOffice to Word. Jutoh recognises the LibreOffice clipboard content and preserves formatting.

  2. Use File | Import | Import Document to import the whole Word document into a Jutoh document within your project. Copy and paste the content from this new document, and then delete the redundant document.
