KB0350: Why are some files disabled (greyed out) in file selection dialogs on Mac?

When opening a file on macOS, you may find that the file you want to open cannot be selected since it's greyed-out. For example, you can use the File | Open command to convert a Word or ODT document as well as open a project file, but the pertinent file may not be selectable.

This is because a particular file filter is currently selected, showing only certain files. On Mac, the file filters are hidden until you click Options, so you may need to click this and choose a different file filter before files become selectable again.
