KB0357: Why does Jutoh warn me about point text size in my fixed layout project?

See also: Creating fixed layout ebooks in the Jutoh manual

When you compile a fixed layout project, you may see this warning:

WARNING (Jutoh): 876 (100%) of the text spans in this fixed layout project had a text size expressed in points, 0 (0%) in pixels.

The reason for this is that when a device or reader program resizes your fixed layout book to fit the display, the fonts should scale in proportion. Specifying text size in pixels guarantees this.

You need to check your direct formatting and paragraph and character styles to ensure the font sizes are specified in pixels. You may find it easier to drop most of the direct formatting (ad hoc use of font size in the editor) and specify the text size in named styles such as "Body Text". Then you can change the font size in the style only, rather than throughout the book.

If you have a lot of text in your book, consider using a reflowable layout instead. It will be easier to create, easier for your customer to read, and will prevent rejection from some distributors; not all ebook readers can handle fixed layout. You can still add pictures to a reflowable layout book.
