KB0367: Why are boxes cut in half on Kindle?

See also: Why are text boxes not breaking properly?

In your Kindle device or preview, you may see text boxes chopped up, with one part on one page, and the rest on another page. This is particularly noticeable if your box has a border and/or a background colour.

Unfortunately, Kindle is not good at preventing page breaks in the middle of text boxes. You can set the property "Page break inside" to "avoid" in the Advanced tab in a box's properties (using a box style will make it easier to make global changes, and you can also use the Inspector to view all boxes). However, this will help avoid page breaks within boxes only in most Epub readers, and not Kindle.

So the best you can do for Kindle is to make it less obvious when a page break occurs: so you could remove the box (perhaps only on Kindle, by using box styles and the configuration option Box style substitutions to substitute a box with no border or background on Kindle). To attract attention to the content, you could instead use a graphic such as a lightbulb at the beginning of (or to the left of) the tip.

Or, you could insert a page break in front of each text box, though that will result in a lot of unnecessary whitespace.
